This blog is dedicated to my dream lifetime ride I had in June 2009.. On bike from Mumbai - Leh - Mumbai We four (Me, Gopi, Winzee & Prasad) conquered the worlds 3 highest motorable roads on the smallest vehicle on the Road- The MotorCycle

Day 12 : (17th June 2009)

Day 12 : 17 June 2009 (Destination : Leh-Khardung La-Leh, Distance Covered : 120kms)

Got up not too early. Gopi insisted us to ride to the top of the world- Khardung La. But sincerely I was not so keen. As I thought, we have reached here, which is already a big thing ;)
But anyways, couldnt resist so ride to the top.

Today was one of the days, we where waiting for, later we realized. Riding to the Top of the world. The distance was considerably less. But didnt had any clue about the terrain we will be riding. Where bit nervous as we will be riding on highest altitude & hoped our bikes do well.

Khardung La is the Highest Mountain Pass in the world. (elevation 5359 m or 17,582 feet)

Now let the pix & road do more talking ;)

lovely roads, a'int they..

what a wide road ;)

India Gate

Alien vs Predator :)

Finally..!!

something we saw at the top ;)

Yeah baby.. We did it :)

Next, we will start with the return journey back to Mumbai via Kargil...

  8. Rachit,

Let me first congratulate you for your courage to take this trip as most of us will think of something like this, but doing it really a different and difficult task. Its worth that you will really see most beautiful things in the world which are located in our country it self. Your trip with your photos and narration is really very good and I just felt like I was with you people on the entire trip virtually, but being there really is a great thing to feel the roads, snow, snowfall, people, ghats, mountains everything. You are a lucky person to do this with such nice other 3 people with you. I am so delighted today that I got to see this blog of yours and very happy that I had a chance to read it and experience it. Yes Leh, Ladakh are the places in the world one has to see them in life time. I wish I could see Leh in my life time may not be on 2 wheel drive on the road, but some how reaching there by road for sure.
Thanks a lot for sharing such a nice experience and my congrats to all your mates without them this adventure would have not completed by you. Convey my congrats to all of them. Yes the trip and RUM oh god I could not resist any more in such a chilled weather and having rum oh god where will be the heaven more than this. The lake in Leh I have seen this for the first time in movie 3 idiots and decided that I should be there once and you people have made it with bikes!!.
I would like to see your return journey experience very soon. and would like to meet you when I am in mumbai this time or when you come to hyderabad. you can reach me on gurrala74@gmail.com. do mail me you r contact details. 3. Hi Juzar, Thanks for the appreciation. Sure, you may plan your honeymoon. Infact I have a friend who did his honeymoon a year back but through some travels. Its totally safe, dont worry. Just the roads are not perfect & uneven at many places. Ofcourse it isnt easy, but if rode carefully with safety in mind, you can certainly do it. All the best & let me know if I could be of any help further.!

  23. Hi Rachit,

Needless to mention, indeed a Great Travelogue and was very informative.

I always wanted to do a trip to Ladakh and Mt.Everest base Camp; somehow was waiting for the right moment; but after reading your blog am motivated to do it ASAP.

But before I take up the trip in 2017, I would like to ride a lot more short trips around Maharashtra and Gujrat, to get myself equipped with all the biking experiences as much as possible.

Am new to biking and want to explore gradually before getting LEH'D.
Inform me so I can join you in your other trips. I would be HONORED.

Curious to know about your experiences while returning via KARGIL.
Congrats to you and your friends for achieving this not so easy task.

    Keep RIDING and EXPLORING

  25. I am from Pune. This is an awesome travelogue which can motivate anyone for this trip. It's in my mind and 3 of my friends to do this adventure trip of Ladakh on bike. Hope the dream comes true soon :-)
I did many long drives with my bike and car and recently did 4200 Kms drive with my Hyundai Grand i10 in Nov 2015 for the route Pune-Bhopal-Jhansi-Lucknow-Basti-Lucknow-Jhansi-Bhopal-Pune.
But always the Ladakh trip would be a dream trip.
